Glassdoor Reports Burnout Reaches Decade-High

Glassdoor’s data shows that burnout among employees is on the rise. In the first quarter of 2025, mentions of burnout on the platform surged by 32% compared to the previous year and were 50% higher than in the last quarter of 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the highest level recorded since Glassdoor began tracking burnout mentions in 2016.

Burnout is clearly impacting employee morale. Workers who mentioned burnout rated their employers 2.68 out of 5 on average, significantly lower than the 3.61 rating given by those who didn’t. This 26% difference in ratings highlights the strong link between burnout and job dissatisfaction.
