Report: Companies Struggling to Meet Workers’ Pay Expectations

Image
According to a report released on October 23 by financial services firm WTW, while employees rank pay as the top reason for joining and staying with a company, only about half of surveyed employers believe they are effectively delivering on their pay programs. This disconnect is attributed to several factors affecting the workplace over recent years, including talent shortages, generational shifts, new work models, the global pandemic, and high inflation. The report also highlights that ineffective communication contributes to the issue, as fewer than one in four of the nearly 1,900 companies surveyed feel they effectively explain how employee pay is determined. Lori Wisper, managing director and work and rewards global solutions leader at WTW, noted that organizations have struggled to focus on the key factors driving pay program effectiveness due to recent labor market dynamics. The WTW report identifies six core objectives that are crucial for enhancing pay program effectivene...

ADP Predicts AI Will Shape 2025 Talent Trends

The report, supported by McKinsey data, reveals that 57% of employers are addressing generative AI skills gaps through targeted upskilling. ADP also noted growing employer concerns over emerging AI regulations, particularly in hiring practices. Despite increased adoption, challenges remain. Worker confusion about AI’s application, as highlighted by Slack’s recent findings, and generational divides in AI perceptions (per Udacity’s survey) reflect ongoing barriers. Additionally, Cornerstone OnDemand found enduring demand for human-centric skills, such as leadership and emotional intelligence, despite AI’s prominence Checkout our website https://hroutlook.com/ for more details.

House Democrats Challenge EEOC’s Plan to Close Eight Field Offices

Image
Six members of Congress have raised concerns over the planned closure of eight Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) field offices. In a letter sent on March 26 to Andrea Lucas, the newly appointed acting chair of the EEOC, lawmakers urged the agency to reconsider terminating leases for offices in Mobile, Alabama; San Jose, California; Greensboro, North Carolina; El Paso, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; Kansas City, Kansas; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Greenville, South Carolina. The letter, signed by Representatives Robert “Bobby” Scott, Zoe Lofgren, Shomari Figures, Alma Adams, Yassamin Ansari, and Deborah Ross, emphasized the critical role these offices play. They serve as the primary point of contact for employees and job applicants seeking redress for workplace discrimination, as well as for employers seeking legal compliance guidance. The lawmakers insisted that closing these offices would undermine access to justice and diminish the agency’s ability to fulfill its missio...

The Unseen Power of Mid-Level Managers in Cultivating Talent Growth

Image
The recent survey by Beamery, a talent management platform, revealed a disconnect between the C-suite and middle managers regarding talent development. Interestingly, the survey noted that managers, constituting 80%, recognized skills gaps within their teams. However, 27% admitted to lacking a comprehensive understanding of their team members’ strengths and skills. Abakar Saidov, co-founder and CEO of Beamery, emphasized that successful companies understand the pivotal role middle managers play in fostering growth and productivity, advocating for investment and empowerment of these managers as a crucial strategy for overcoming talent challenges across the organization. Reports highlight the increasing importance of skills development, not ...

Study Finds No Link Between Telehealth and Low-Value Primary Care Services

Image
A study published this week in *JAMA Network Open* found that increased telehealth utilization in primary care clinics was not linked to a rise in low-value services—those with little clinical benefit but significant costs. This research, which analyzed data from over 577,000 Medicare beneficiaries, found no correlation between increased telehealth use and most forms of low-value care, such as unnecessary screenings or tests with little clinical benefit but significant costs. This finding challenges concerns that virtual care might lead to more wasteful services and higher healthcare spending. Checkout our website https://hroutlook.com/ for more details.

Making the most of 2024 – What should leaders and managers consider to drive greater Impact?

Image
Before we consider how leaders and managers can better engage and support their employees, first, we need to take a step back and consider what’s happening in society overall. With a rise in populism, first since Brexit in the UK and the surprise election in 2016 as Trump becoming the US president in 2016.  Michael Cox  from the London School of Economics describes populism as reflecting ‘a deep suspicion of the establishment, that in the view of most populists doesn’t just rule in the common good but conspires against the people.’ With concerns about  trust within HR  departments, there is a risk that the populist wave that seems to pervade society, may have a significant impact on the workplace, where nobody’s perceived as ‘looking out’ for ‘ordinary people’. What back-office automation revealed: Tasks only humans can handle

Image
In recent years, the advancement of digital transformation has led many companies to implement automation tools in their back-office operations. At K2 Staffing Solutions, we have also adopted technologies such as AI and ATS to improve efficiency, especially in repetitive and routine tasks. When we first started, we assumed that automation could handle the majority of our back-office work and would significantly reduce our manual workload. However, as we started discussing issues with engineers, we realized something quite different. While automation certainly improved efficiency in many areas, it also helped us identify what tasks cannot be replaced by technology. In fact, the automation process clearly revealed the boundaries between work that machines can do—and work that only humans can.
